Our U-14’s, went down to their first defeat of the competition when the lost 2-1. W Connection moved the ball around well in the early going, with Defense Force looking solid in defense. Then suddenly out of nowhere a high cross dropped onto the hand of a Defense Force player, penalty. W Connection’s kicker struck the ball against the crossbar, but Defense Force’s defenders reacted slowly to the rebound, but Nicholas Dyett (W Connection) did not. He slotted it home from 3yds out in the 20th minute, W Connection 1 Defense Force 0. Early in the second half defense Force had a couple of attacks which were snuffed out by W Connection.

W Connection from an attack in the 46th minute scored their second goal. A lack of decisiveness again by our defenders let Dantaye Gilbert in and he scored. Nicholas Smith was introduced into the game for Defense Force and he brought some added zest to the attack, which was lacking. This put a bit more pressure onto W Connection and a consolation goal was score by Jeremiah Williams in extra time for Defense Force. Final score, W Connection 2 Defense Force 1.

The second game was even in all respects at the end of the first half. Both teams had and even percentage of the ball, but both of the custodians had very little to do. Defense Force had a couple of free kicks from about 25-30yds which the W Connection custodian dealt with efficiently. The same goes for Defense Force’s goalkeeper who also dealt with a couple of floated balls in the area from the opposition. Half time score was 0-0. Early in the second half W Connection would score through a well driven shot from about 25yds from Caleb Gasper, to the left of Defense Force’s custodian, who had no chance. KalevKeil tied the score in the 78th minute, only for Connection to take the lead once again in extra time, through Jareelle Steadman. Final score W Connection 2 Defense Force 1.

In the last game of the evening, it was excitement and action from the first whistle. W Connection got into stride quicker than Defense Force. They moved the ball quickly through their midfield, but defense Force were up to the task and snuffed out all the attacks efficiently. Defense Force slowly came into the game with a few attacks of their own, with a couple of them coming close enough to have Connection on edge. The score remained 0-0 at the end of the first half. The second half began with Defense Force coming out with a renewed spirit and sense of urgency, with them also showing more aggression defensively, but Connection struck first. The Force were hesitant in clearing the ball at the back and Connection latched onto it, basically gifting Isaiah Hudson a goal in the 51st minute. This did not deter the Force, it seemed to spur them on more. Chances came and a couple were taken firstly by Hashim Garcia (57th) who eluded two defenders and slotted home; then Kevaughn John (70th), who always seems to have his scoring boots, hit a roofer from 8yds, from a well driven low cross from the right side. Final score W Connection 1 Defense Force 2.
