On Sunday 27th November, 2016, we had our closing day at the Henry Street Recreation Ground. All members congregated in the east for a good morning of fun and games. It was a morning where everyone brought something to eat or drink and shared. The games started around 10.30am, with fields set up all around the ground for all of the younger age groups who intermingled with each other and competed against each other. These children just had fun and excitement galore just showing off their skills to their peers and parents.
As all of this was taking place, some fathers of the children began limbering up, with some rubbing down with all various types of liniments. Even the blind could know old from young, just by scent. Fathers competed against the older age groups and the even had a session versus the coaches. Maximum time for most fathers on the field was 45 minutes with a break in between sessions. Hopefully, the following day all could have gotten out of bed without too many issues.
It was a great morning of fun, something we do at the end of every year and hopefully will continue for years to come. Thanks to all who turned up and to all who supplied sustenance. A lot of us needed it at the end.
