Draw, Draw, Draw!!

U-13

Coming off a resounding victory against Rangers the week before, the Defence Force U13’s were not short on confidence, even though their opponents Police FC haven’t dropped a single point for the entire campaign thus far. During the early exchanges, you would have thought that it was actually Defence Force that topped the table, as they seemed really up for it. We dominated the game early on. However, football is a game where you need to take your chances and that is exactly what the opponents did, albeit against the run of play, 1-0 to Police, Nathaniel Carim (17’). Credit must be given to our boys, whom, after conceding never dropped their heads but rather kept the pressure on, and they were rewarded soon after thanks to great wing play from Terrell Gibson and finished off by Darion Marfan (19’), 1-1 at the half.

The second half started as the first did with our boys continuing their high pressure on the opponents, forcing turnovers in the middle and attacking thirds of the field and it paid dividends.  The same duo for the first goal linked up again for the second Terrell to Darion (40’), 2-1 to Defence Force. As the game was winding down, a persistent Police team eventually got their reward with about six minutes left on the clock, Nathaniel Carim (64’) completed a brace, 2-2 and so it ended.

It was a definitely a good showing by the U13’s, they displayed grit, fight, determination, and heart, all while managing to play some attractive football in the process. On to the next match!

U-15

Our U15’s who are second on the table at the moment had a tough encounter against Police. The game was an even contest with chances at both ends of the field for both teams. The ground was not ideal for good football. Especially for the type of football that we would like to play, possessing the ball. It was rough, undulating and even had pebbles in certain areas, but these are the issues players have to deal with and overcome at times. Police achieved this more than we did. However, the guys battled for the full 80 minutes and came away with a well-deserved 1-1 draw. Jasiel Edwards (33’) scoring first for us and then Police equalizing through Mathias Hinkson (72’).

 U-17

Alas, progress has been made. Our U17’s have added another point with a draw. Another hard fought battle that saw Defense Force score as early as the first minute through Ojore Kanneh. Again another see saw affair with control difficult on the ground, which saw the ball in the air too often. Police equalized through Jabari Boyce (34’), went ahead from a contentious penalty, taken by Zion McLeod (51’), but the boys held their nerves and spirit and equalized through a free kick from Shaquem Bleasdell (70’).
