Flow Youth Pro League Competition

Flow Youth League Competition 2016

Round 1, match day 5 of the Flow Youth Pro League concluded on Sunday 10th April. We came up against Central FC in the U-14, 16 and 18/Reserve age groups. These are the three groups that are being contested in the league, with games being played at 10.00am, 2.00pm and 4.00pm in that order for the age groups above. Note that we have been adopted by the Defense Force, therefore from here on, we will be referred to as Defense Force FC, not SKHY FC, for anything that concerns the Flow Youth Pro League.

For the games on Sunday which were played on our home ground, Trinity College East, we had indifferent results with the U-14’s winning 4-2, U-16’s tied 2-2 and U-18/reserve lost 2-3. Under 14’s went into the half with the score tied at 2-2, after leading 2-0, with goals from Marc Wharfe and Joshua Samuel. Central FC’s goal scorers were Menelik McKenna and Keiell George. During the second period Defense Force registered two more goals off the boots of Marc Wharfe and Sheldon Elder. Marc was the man of this match with two goals and two assists. It was an encouraging performance from the boys, especially as the team was without their main goal scorer over the past two years, Justin Araujo-Wilson, who is down with chicken pox.

The Under 16’swent into the half with a 2-0 lead, with their goals being scored by Michel Poon-Angeron in the 4th minute from a direct free kick and the 39th minute directly from a corner. However, they gave up this lead late in the second half through what in tennis they would call unforced errors.  Central FC’s Tyrique Muhammed and Rakim Cabie had no hesitation in thankfully accepting these gifts in the 71st and 78th minutes. At the final whistle the score remained tied at 2-2.

In the last game of the day the U-18/reserve team scored early, 2nd minute, through Kevaughn John. Central FC responded immediately with a goal from Raheam Borde in minute 3. Central would outplay us in the first half and add a further two goals in the half from Kadeem Corbin (31st) and Raheam Borde (40th). We went into the half time 1-3 down. In the second half, a bit more pressure was applied to Central FC unlike the first where they had the run of the mill. This brought about a couple of openings in their defense, with Kevaughn again capitalizing with one these chances in the 54th minute. During some of these back and forth exchanges Central was thwarted with a couple of excellent saves from Timothy Brooks in goal. We were unfortunate not to get the equalizer, but Central FC were deserved winners on the day.

After round 5, the U-14’s are first in their division with 15 points, U-16’s andU-18/reserve are both seventh in their respective division with 5 points each. The league continues on Sunday, Round 6, with us (Defense Force) coming up against W Connection at the Ato Boldon Stadium. Times for games this weekend have changed slightly. Under 14s play at2.00pm, U-16s at 4.00pm and U-18/Reserve at 6.00pm.
