RBL Youth Tournament

SKHY U11 (Defence Force) came up against Tunapuna Titans on Sunday 20th May, 2017. The match proved to be exciting from the first whistle. We looked composed and deliberate with our attacks at the beginning of the game, but Tunapuna Titans were able to withstand all attempts on goal until the end of the first half, when the deadlock was broken by Elijah Wong who ran onto a through ball from the left side of the goal and calmly poked the ball past the goal-keeper. The first period ended 1-0 in favour of SKHY (Defense Force), mainly due to the efforts of the Titans goalkeeper who had an excellent game as he made several impressive saves in the first half. We began the second half with a number of substitutions. Seth Eve was inserted in the midfield along with Kerry Baptiste Jr. and they immediately demonstrated their abilities both offensively and defensively. Our second goal came as a result of a handled ball by Titans in their area. Penalty! Jonathan Gadjadar stepped up and confidently converted the penalty to make it 2-0. A second penalty was awarded to us following an infringement against Kerry Baptiste Jr, however we failed to convert.

Aiden Adams had a great game, displaying persistence and intensity. Jahzeel Newton finished another opportunity to make it 3-0. However, Tunapuna Titans were able to make it 3-1 following a goal kick which fell to one of their players who smartly lobbed our goalkeeper. A quick build-up down the right side of the field culminated in a tap in by Tau Lamsie to earn him his fourth goal of the tournament and make the score 4-1 in our favour. Celebrations were short lived as Tunapuna Titans were able to score right from the restart. The game ended 4-2 in favour of SKHY (Defense Force) and is quite possible the best all-round performance by the team so far in the Tournament. Coach Phillip was very pleased with the team's performance. The three 'Man of the Match' awardees were: Aiden Adams, Seth Eve and Jaiden Nunez.
