SKHY Dominates 2015 Republic Youth Cup

Under13 Team 4

SKHY’s under 13 team had a fantastic showing in this year’s Republic Youth Cup, winning all their games from the first round straight to the final. The team fresh from their tour to the Disney Cup in Orlando entered the tournament with confidence and a willingness to show the crowd all the experience they had gained in the United States.  They started off their Republic Cup Campaign on the first weekend, with a 6-0 demolition of QPCC and then a 5-1 thrashing of P & D Coaching School. The following weekend, the second phase of the round robin was played, again SKHY continued their wonderful form beating QPCC 6-1 and P & D Coaching School 5-0. Now it was on to the quarter finals the following weekend.

Reaching the quarter finals, which was played at Constantine Park, Macoya with such convincing victories had the team full of confidence. Their opponent was Adrenaline FC. The boys settled very quickly by dominating Adrenaline from the first whistle. Justin Araujo Wilson was at it again scoring very early in the match, with Jasiel Edwards and Justin Seabrun adding two spectacular goals to help SKHY to a comfortable 3-0 victory over their opponents. Adrenaline didn’t look like they could cope with the brilliant style of football SKHY showed on the day. One step further, into the semi-finals we go. This was played at the Larry Gomes Stadium in Arima.

In the semi-final SKHY played Wez Pro FC from La Brea, whom they defeated 4-0, thanks to goals from Justin Araujo Wilson, Naim Pompey and Marc Warfe. Justin scored a brace and showed great poise and maturity in the game, as he continued to impress and delight the spectators with his skill and dominating performance in the tournament. Now, we have reached the final. The team approached with caution, as we would play one of our main rivals, over the years, Rangers. We defeated Rangers 2-0 thanks to goals from Marc Wharfe and the tournament MVP Justin Araujo Wilson.  The boys played some resilient and tough football, battling from the first to the final whistle. This augurs well for the future. Hopefully they have seen what they can achieve once some extra effort is applied. This was a truly emphatic performance by the SKHY FC under 13 team, putting together an unbeaten run and dominating every team they faced from start to finish. This is no easy task. Coach Dexter and Keon would be very proud of their players’ achievements and would be looking forward to seeing them continue to mature and develop in the future.
