Tough Day At the Office

Central FC v Defense Force

April 9, 2017

U-13

Our team went under to Central FC by a one goal margin. The result was 2-3 with Joshua Mason and Terrell Gibson on the score sheet for the Defense Force. This week there will be no action in the Flow TT Youth Pro League due to the Easter holidays. Action resumes on the 23rd of April when we take on Club Sando at the Trinity College East Ground.

Though we were not at our best, we seemed to be always in control of the game. This was an away game but the match was played on our home field as Central FC were unable to secure a home venue for the match.  Pre-game preparation was good. We started the game with good focus, but not with the intensity of the previous game. As in all previous games the boys imposed themselves on the game as it wore on. This was exemplified by better movement and passing, more shots and crosses etc.

We began the second half with a 2-0 lead, goals from Joshua Araujo-Wilson (2’, 29’). We added a third within 10 minutes of the restart, Joshua (54’), squandered a couple of other opportunities and saw a shot from Nicholas Smith cannon off the upright of the opposing team. The 3-0 result in our favour was a fair reflection of the contest.

What can I say, but our boys need to put in some extra time on the training field. The first half of this game may have been some of the best football we have played in our first 6 games, but again some simple defensive errors cost us and then we only converted one of our chances. We literally handed the opposition 2 goals on a platter. The first a penalty, converted by Ajani Joseph (5’) and the second to Tyrique Muhammed (61’.) In between Jakeem Mc Neil (43’) scored a well taken free kick. The final score was Central FC 2 Defense Force 1. This has been a learning experience for the guys. Hopefully, it will make them tougher in character. There is a two week break for the Easter. We should be a much improved team when the league resumes, once the hours are put in.
