SKHY vs Central FC - Sunday March 11th, 2018.

Our boys were raring and ready to head to the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella to take on Central FC. The morning started off with a bit of a delay, as the team bus provided by the Defence Force ran a bit late. That didn’t seem to affect the team however, as they were ready to get their first win under their belt.

Upon reaching the field, the match commissioner indicated to us that there would not be any officials present on the day, and as she was a qualified FIFA official she would take up that duty for the game. This too added a further delay to our morning. Finally the game began, and from the onset, the boys took control, applying pressure to Central, which ultimately led to our first goal scored by Terron Miller. The U14’s were relentless, as Central were not allowed to muster anything together in terms of any real attacking threat. The second goal came about from a wonderful build-up play that consisted of around ten to twelve passes finished off again by Terron. This pattern continued throughout the first half, with it ending 3-0 (Terron Hat- trick).

The second half started in the manner the first did, with another quick one by, yes you guessed it, Terron. Darion Marfan got into the action with two quick goals as well, and it was only fitting that Terron would round up the scoring with his fifth on the day. We came out 7-0 winners on the day. Areas worth noting was firstly how the boys seem to be enjoying themselves. Offensively and defensively they were impressive on the day, moving the ball around with confidence, and pressuring to win it back out of possession. All players had the opportunity to get some game time in, and the substitutes came on and gave it their best shot. All in all it was an impressive performance by the U14’s, and a successful outing in the southland. On to the next game.

Justin Modeste leads from the front to give us victory

The fourth game of season saw a lot of changes made to the starting lineup.

Jasiel Edwards the usual midfield enforcer, switched his game up to play a composed wing back with Nathan Maynard Small coming into the midfield to add some sense of urgency.

Two goals were scored in the first half by non-other than Justin, our centre forward.

The second half started as breathlessly as the first with a third goal coming within the first fifteen minutes with a superb run and strike from Jaden Perryman.

Whilst the front line dazzled the fans with their pace and skill, the man of the match was the side’s skipper Jaden Mc Kree, who won every air ball and tackle contested.

Skipper Mc Kree

The victory was very important for the players, as their confidence is now on a high going into next week’s game against North East.

Shaquem Bleasdel at his brilliant lethal best, with a beaver trick, was the ace up our sleeve as we beat Central FC in a 4-2 thriller.

WARM UP: The team arrived at 3:15 pm and began their warm up at 3:37 pm. Some of the players were reluctant to take the warm up seriously and were complaining that the warm up was too hard and taxing on their bodies.

CHECK IN : The team had a stubborn response to the match officials who were trying to do their job and get the names and numbers of the players before the start of the match. On my arrival to the bench I heard one match official telling the players they have to be more professional and this behaviour is unacceptable because they know what is required before a match starts.

FIRST HALF : We started the game in dominant fashion with Emanuel Cumberbatch causing all kinds of trouble to the left wing back and putting the Central FC defence under pressure in the early stages of the game. However Central capitalized on an error from our stopper and made the score 1-0 which was totally against the run of play. We continued to apply pressure through talented winger Cumberbatch and his brilliant run allowed Shaquem to have a simple finish to bring parity back to the score line. With the score now 1-1 the game was relatively even in terms of possession and a collision in the 30th minute between the Central FC stopper and our central midfielder, Tarik, had us playing with ten men for 10 minutes while he was assessed before his return to the field of play. During this 10 minute period Central FC used it to their advantage and scored their second, making it 2-1 going into the half.

SECOND HALF: We came out after the half with a renewed focus and willingness to relax and play the game. The second half was a one sided affair with the majority of the Central players beginning to wilt under the constant pressure. Our outfit, who looked much fitter and stronger took advantage and scored two goals making the score 4-2 at the final whistle. Overall, our second half was very good compared to the first, which was disappointing. The team was reminded by the coaches that hard work and focus must continue for the rest of the season.
