Eastern Alliance FC confronted SKHY on its home ground at Five Rivers on Saturday 12th at 6.00pm. This was SKHY’s fourth match of the season and they game into this one with a record of 2 wins and 1 draw, so far for the new season, with no goals scored against them. This was going to be a tough evening for the Alliance.
The game started with both teams like cagey boxers, just getting a feel for one another, trying to figure out the other weaknesses. SKHY after the initial phase, gradually gained control of the match, with accurate passing and intelligent movement and support off the ball. The first goal came in the 35 minute off the boot of Kevaughn John. This was expected because of the dominance of SKHY at this juncture of the game. Their ball possession percentage had to be at least 75% for the first half. John also netted his second for the half in the 38th minute, a rocket of shot from just outside the 18 yard box, giving the goalkeeper of the Allliance no chance. A third was added in minute 43, after some good inter change passing between Kerron Brache, who worked untiringly up and down the right flank all game, Jimelle Ramkissoon and then finally to Nicholas Yee Chan to put the final touches from inside the box. At the referee’s whistle for half time, the score was 3-0.
Eastern Alliance began the second half with a lot more energy than expected, they tried to close down the ball quickly and put a lot more pressure on the SKHY boys than the first half. This seemed to work initially, but then SKHY adjusted. They played a lot of one and two touch, having the boys from the Alliance seemingly chasing shadows. The Alliance noticeably became frustrated. Their energy levels diminished, especially after the fourth goal was deservedly scored by Kerron in the 59th minute. Another was added by Kevaughn in the 68th, giving him his first hat-trick of the season. Then, in the 83rd, the hard working Jovan Edwards scored goal number six. Eastern Alliance got a consolation goal in the 87th minute from a cross on the right side which the SKHY defenders failed to deal with and the Alliance striker was clinical in his finish.
It was a goal which had no bearing on the outcome of the game, but this was the first team to score on SKHY for the season. The game ended 6-1. The Alliance came up against a juggernaut this evening. This was the best SKHY has played for the season. Everything seemed to come together. The link up through the team from defense to midfield to up front was wonderful. The flow of their game was smooth, pleasant on the eye, as was remarked by a spectator.
