The skies were cloudy since the night before, then the showers came on Saturday morning. Rain fell on and off throughout the day. This was also the day that we contested games against Rangers FC at our home ground, Trinity College East, Trincity.
As usual games were at 10.00am (U13), 2.00pm (U15) and 4.00pm (U17). Just as it rained all day, goals rained in every match. The U13 game saw us convincingly defeat our counterparts 7-2, in a mainly one sided affair. Goals scored by Joshua Mason (13’, 18’, 30’, 66’), Christopher Brooks (38’) and Terrell Gibson (43’, 45’). Rangers got consolation goals from Anjani Andrews (64’) and Brandon Parks (67’).
The U-15 game was a ding dong affair, very exciting, with the outcome always in the balance. We went ahead 2-0 in the first half with goals from Joshua Samuel (37’, 39’). At the beginning of the second half Rangers suddenly took over the game with Defense Force seemingly gone to sleep. In a six minute period Rangers raced into the lead with a hat trick of goals off the boot of Darius Douglas (51’, 55’ 57’). Then all of a sudden the Force was awakened with two late goals from Jeremiah Williams (78’) and a penalty from Marc Wharfe (80’), which saw us coming away winners, 4-3.
The end of the story remains the same for our U17’s. Still struggling to score a goal, much less earn a point, but the fight and spirit of the team in the first half and for 20 minutes of the second half was tremendous. A goal given away in the second minute of play saw Rangers take a 0-1 lead. Thereafter, the team (Defense Force) seemed possessed, having at least six chances from within the Rangers penalty area but not finding the target. The first half belonged to us without a doubt. After twenty minutes of the second half Rangers broke away and scored a second, this took the wind out of our boys and they conceded 2 more at the end. The end of the story remains the same with the score, Rangers coming away 0-4 winners. For 65 minutes we lived in hope. Let’s go the full 90 next time.
