SKHY FC celebrated its 20th Anniversary in grand style on December 3rd
2016 at the Cascadia Hotel and Conference Centre; where just over 370 of the
Club's Membership attended the Dinner and Award function.
The national Anthem played and after a prayer delivered by one of our coaches/senior players, John Paul Timothy, co-founder Joel Hyacenth recounted the early beginnings of the Club and touched on various developments over the 20 years. A surprise digital appearance on screen by Shaka Hislop and his team at ESPN FC was well received by the membership. Shaka spoke about his admiration for the Club's achievements and extended his heartfelt desire to see the Club continue onto greater successes.
The feature speaker, The Honourable Minister of
Sport, Mr. Darryl Smith indulged the audience as he expressed kind sentiments
about the Club and the value of a programme such as that which is offered by
SKHY FC. He wished SKHY FC continued success.
Three of the long standing coaches, Reynold
George, Andy Taylor and Denyse Arneaud were honoured with plaques commemorating
their individual service of 15 years and more. A true showing of dedication and
commitment!
The highlight of the evening's proceedings
however was the distribution of Awards. Younger members waited with much
anticipation and there was loud cheering from the various teams as these young
girls and boys were recognized for excellence in various categories. Each
trophy awarded drew cheers from the audience with the U10 parent group copping
the title for the most passionate supporters!
All in all the evening was lovely and well
received by everyone.
