Scrimmage Games
Day 6 - Thursday
Yesterday (Thursday), we were supposed to have scrimmage games for both teams, but all matches were cancelled because of the weather. On Wednesday night, there was very heavy wind and rain, accompanied by hail (small pieces of ice like marbles). Due to this event, we believe in order to prevent the fields from being damaged, they would have been quite soggy, all games were abandoned.
This occurrence turned everything upside down, as now teams were hustling to reorganize games that they thought they had for Friday or Saturday. It was some confusion. At the end of it all, we were able to organize matches for both teams definitely for today, Friday. By the time this was finalized the morning was finished. The boys were at the hotel all morning, so we took them to the church where we visit every year so that they could expend some energy. At the church compound there is indoor football, basketball, table football, table tennis, board games and food. Here we stayed for about two to three hours and they still wanted to remain longer.
DAY 7 - Friday
As was said previously, both teams had matches today, Friday. The U-15’s matched up against Sparta from Utah at 10.00am and the U-14’s contested their game against Raven Wood of England at 9.30am. The games were played at different venues. Both teams performance improved although none came out victorious. The U-15’s tied, but the U-14’s lost. There is still a silver lining in the sky (SKHY), as we believe the boys understand what it takes to compete at this level and it is hoped that they will do what it takes. The Dallas Cup is the best of the best.
After the games the boys had lunch, then went shopping. We arrived back at the hotel at 7.30pm. It has been a long day. Games are still being organized for tomorrow (Saturday). Hopefully, they will be. This level of competition is needed for all our teams on a regular basis. The boys can only benefit.
